frames are made specific to each bike but I modified a set mad for a Suzuki Bandit!

Why not speak to someone like Happy Trails, who make a frame specific for your bike and mod that?

The Happy-Trail racks are about $240 US and the Pannier Mount Kits are $50 US. makes mounting any type of Pannier, plastic, ammo cans or Happy-Trail units a breeze.

I dumped my xt over on the trail and you would not believe the gouge they left in the ground for me to fill. But the bike, racks and panniers were none the worse for wear.

it was just a shame as how much they cost, by the time deliveries and import taxes were taken into consideration, to the UK. If the panniers and racks had been about £200 cheaper then both Doc and I would've bought them.

I bought these tank panniers at wally world for $20 or so. Added a $1.50 strap to hold them a bit better than the glued velcro option. Actually, I ended up using some "liguid nails" to glue the velcro to the air scoops below the tank because the heat from the engine caused the original glue to come loose too easy. All in all I'm very happy with them for a cheap solution. Roomy enough for rain gear, my wallet, cellphone, extra bungees, etc.
And oh yeah, my water bottle too
