The battery in my '07 has died. It probably was the original battery. Any hearty recommendations for a replacement brand/model? I tried searching for information on this site, here, but haven't had any luck finding recent recommendations.
Thanks for any help.

The standard Yamaha recommendation is a Yuasa ytz7s, which is a high quality battery which I recommend. They last for many years and are trouble free. http://www.motorcycleinnovations.ca/YUASA_YTZ7S_p/ytz7s.htmI would go for this before anything. patuca

Agreed. Yuasa makes good batteries. Get a battery tender while you're at it.
This shall pass, be still and know. 2006 XT225, UNI filter, ProTaper bars, MSR handguards, SS front brake line, Shinko 241's.

Thank you, gentlemen. They appear to be more expensive than some alternatives, but "trouble free" and "many years" sounds very good.

I have the original batteries in 3 bikes: 2005/2005/2006. And they've seen massive vibration and banging around on the trails; something that doesn't help battery life.
The secret is Harbor Freight's little $4.99 float-chargers, which I constantly have on the bikes when they're garaged.

Battery Mart AGM batteries have worked fine for me, at about $55, delivered by FedEx.

Yuasa makes a good battery. I've had these in both bikes for years and never used a float charger. One winter season they sat in storage with low temps at -24F for periods of 1-2 days. In the Spring both bikes started. Amazing. Obviously these batteries (on our bikes) take their fair share of mechanical abuse. Odyssey also makes a premium battery but I'm not sure if they have an XT version. Yuasa is good and so are others. Truth be known, Walmart would be the last place I'd shop for a battery.
If you can get the weight of a good battery like a Yuasa and compare that to other brands you might be considering, it will help tell you how much lead is in the plates. More lead will help a battery last a bit longer and may increase its tolerance for mechanical abuse. Installing a headlight "off" switch will help deliver more cranking amps for those models that leave the headlight on during cranking.
Also keep in mind the XT doesn't take its ignition power from the battery. That system runs via a magneto. Terrain permitting, you can always pop start (and run) an XT225 with a dead battery. A small comfort, perhaps, knowing a dead battery isn't a ride show stopper.
Good luck shopping!

Wow I had no clue, good to know. Thanks for that info. I would hate to get stuck in the desert and cant pop start it!
